I am thankful every day for my youngest granddaughter. When my daughter was 23 weeks pregnant she was laying in a hospital bed trying to hold onto the baby it had taken her seven years to conceive. We were given no hope of her survival. They were already discussing funeral homes and arrangements. We were told that unless she tried to draw a breath, they wouldn’t try to save her because she wasn’t considered viable at that stage. Well, she fooled all of them. She came out at 1 pound 3 ounces and was 11 1/2 inches long and she fought to breathe so they got her on the machines and off to the NICU she went. We had her baptised that night because they weren’t all that hopeful, but we figure God’s got plans for her because after 4 months in the NICU she came home a couple of days before her due date. She’s still a tiny little thing, but she’s a walking, talking miracle. She’s what I’m most thankful for.

I’m grateful for so many things, but probably the one that sticks out to me at the moment is that my son has finally decided to stop partying in college, and take his grades seriously! I’ve been telling (well, nagging) him for the last 4 years but like anything else, until they take ownership of the problem and embrace the change, it doesn’t do any good.

I’ve seen him get upset over a A- grade on a paper (he thought it should have been an A), where last term he spent HOURS telling me that a D- was a passing grade, so why was I so upset?

I think he now understands that he’s laying the foundation for the rest of his life, his career, and the kind of life he’ll be able to provide for his future wife and family, and while there’s time for all the fun that goes along with being in college, class/grades comes first.

My work here is done! :)

Here’s a photo of him I posted on Facebook: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs833.snc4/69338_437125583505_641513505_5396174_5294187_n.jpg

I’m thankful for my health, and that our family has been pretty lucky health-wise.
I’m also thankful that even though I have been unemployed for 2 years, that I am not in debt, so I don’t have to settle for a minimum wage job … yet.
I also am thankful that I am able to buy lottery tickets which when they hit the jackpot will enable me to turn my unemployment to a comfortable retirement.
I’m extremely thankful that although my almost 7 year old car gave me lots of trouble when it was under warranty, that it’s been behaving and gets me where I need to go.

And I’m thankful that there are lots of giveaways and sweepstakes where I can win money, food, and goodies that I might not otherwise buy. It is such a relief that I have won items that I can use as gifts so my giftees get better presents that I could otherwise buy!

And I am thankful for places like my local library and Barnes & Noble that provide free wi-fi as I have dial-up at home and it’s so-o-o-o- slow!

and last but not least, Thanks for the giveaway!
